STOVE

The traditional method for making chai is using a chai pot on the stove. This is an easy method for making a delicious brew of What the Chai. Once you have done this a few times you will find the process an enjoyable ritual in your day. Every morning I make a fresh pot of What the Chai and use a thermal drink bottle and enjoy hot chai all morning. The measurements below are based on using 60gm (1/4 cup) of What the Chai per 1 litre of liquid. You will find the perfect amount of chai to use. If you want a bit more of a spicy hit, then you may like to add a little bit more chai. Alternatively, you can use less chai for more a mild flavour. Enjoy!

Method

For a single serve of What the Chai add the following to a heavy based saucepan or stove chai pot:

2-3 tsps (15-20g) What the Chai

250ml milk

60ml water

Place all ingredients in saucepan and gently heat for 7-10 mins. Don't let it simmer or boil. This may make the spices bitter.

The perfect brewing temperature is 60-65 degrees. This allows the delicious chai flavour to infuse into the milk.

Strain into your favourite mug. Take a moment to savour your What the Chai moment and enjoy!

STEAMER WAND

Make a cafe style What the Chai latte by using a steam wand. (A steam wand is the milk frothing wand on the side of coffee machines).

Use a medium or large milk frothing jug. Add What the Chai and milk to the jug.

2-3 tsps (15-20g) What the Chai

280 - 300ml milk

Use steam wand to heat and froth milk.

Let sit for 5 mins.

Use a strainer and pour into your fancy cafe latte cup and enjoy! ** Have you seen our Fire Cups? These have been custom made for What the Chai lattes! **

TEA INFUSER OR TEAPOT

The simple method of infusion makes a gorgeous cup of chai as simple as making a herbal tea.

2-3 tsps (15-20g) What the Chai

250ml boiled water

Use a tea infuser or teapot and add What the Chai and hot boiled water. Let steep for 5-10 mins.

Strain into your cup and enjoy while perusing your favourite book.

You may like to add a dash of your favourite milk.

COLD BREW

Sometimes we want a cold chai on those sunny days. Follow this quick What the Chai cold brew guide. Best made the night before for your grab and go cold brew.

2-3 tsps (15-20g) What the Chai

300ml milk (or use 80/20 milk to water)

Place chai and milk into a glass jar. Stir well. Secure lid and place in the fridge for 8-24 hours.

Strain cold chai into a glass and enjoy immediately! Can be served over ice. Can also be used to make chai smoothies and as a base for chai-tails… Yum, yum!
